The Warramunga’s Aftermath of War by Greg Kater
The Warramunga’s Aftermath of War by “Greg Kater” is the second book
from the Warramunga series. This historical fiction is full of action and
adventure. It mostly focuses on increased criminal activities post World War
II.
The story opens on Christmas day, when
former Army Officer Jamie Munro and CIS head Jack O’Brien, a Warramunga the aborigine, aboard the Darwin Harbor Pilot’s cutter in rough seas to rescue and
investigate a distressed vessel. After looking around this boat, they find out
one young survivor and with the help of him, they come to know about the abducted
and murdered children and this whole fiasco is somehow related to the child
smuggling racket they have been called to investigate. From the story of this
survivor, they find out the lead to follow in the Philippines, and from there
with a very well thought plan, they uncover the Australian criminals involved
in this operation.
They move back to Australia to find out the
mastermind behind this racket. Where another surprise awaits for them and the
thrilling sequence of kidnapping and rescue operation starts, where this
fearless and intelligent duo Jamie and Jacko, put their lives at risk to tackle
these greedy criminals. The author, Greg Kater, has successfully managed to
combine humor and romance along with all the excitement and action in this
adventurous novel. I like the love story of Jamie and Carna and the casual
banter between Jamie and Jacko. Also, Jacko’s half-sisters Sarah, who became a
great help because of her tracking skills, is a very appealing character.
While reading this novel, you will feel
connected with each character, no matter how extensive or brief their part is
in the story. The author has achieved to present a great fusion of fiction and
historical events. The portrayal of regions, culture, and people is brilliant.
The author has shown us through this novel that, how much chaos and crime
motivational environment gets created post-war. How much destruction and loss a
war can cause. Throughout the story, the tension never relents and keeps the
reader on the edge and guessing.
Through this novel, Greg Kater continues to
cement his reputation as a best historical fiction writer with extensive
knowledge of historical events, visual experience and clever use of different
languages. I would like to highly recommend this book to all range of readers.
The book is very well edited. If you are a fan of a historical action thriller,
then this book is definitely for you.
I would like to
give 4.5 out of 5 stars to this novel as it’s flawlessly well researched, edited
and written book. I am looking forward to reading more from Greg Kater.
